Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 205, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 205, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, via Communication No. 640,
dated December 15, 1997, approves cost items agreed upon by the Employers and the Hawaii
Government Employees Association (I-IGEA) for bargaining unit 02 for the period July 1, 1997,
through June 30, 1999.
The cost items aze a continuation of step movements, a 2.49% across-the-board increase on
Januazy I, 1998, a 2.50 %across-the-board increase on July 1, 1998, and an increase in night
differential pay for $.45 to $.55 per hour effective July 1, 1997. The estimated cost to the
County of Hawaii for the aforementioned negotiated cost items will be $146,855. Additional
adjustments such as employer's contribution to the Employee Retirement System, vacation,
holiday, and sick leave repazations will increase the total cost to $188,344. The increased cost
for this fiscal year will be covered by the Provision for Compensation Adjustment appropriation
in the current budget.
Pursuant to Section 89-10(b) of the Hawaii Revised Statutes relating to collective bazgaining, the
employer must submit within ten days of the date on which the agreement is ratified by the
employees concerned all cost items contained therein to the appropriate legislative bodies.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 205 and
recommends its approval.
