RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA THROUGH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, PURSUANT TO HRS
46-7, D.A.R.E/DOE GRANT.
WHEREAS, the United States of America through the State Department of
Education, is desirous of providing funding for expenses to train the DARE officers,
provide a DARE Summer Leadership camp for students and supplies for the Parent
program; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to proceed
with its obligations under the D.A.R.E./DOE Grant; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the
Federal government may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii
providing the expenditures or receipt of funds or for other assistance;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
the Honorable Stephen K. Yamashiro is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the
name of the County, which will effectuate these purposes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward
copies of this Resolution to said Mayor Yamashiro, the Chief of Police, and any other
interested governmental agencies.
