Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 173, reports as follows:
Bill No. 173, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication No. 609,
dated November 25, 1997, amends Chapter 24, Article 4, Section 24-20 of the Hawaii County
Code, 1993 Edition, as amended, relating to motor vehicle driver's licensing fees.
Bill No. 173 amends the Hawaii County Code to provide for asix-year driver's license with both
a first-time and renewal fee of $18. This measure also increases the application for driver's
license permit from $5 to $10.
Members of Your Committee questioned the need to increase the application for instruction
permit fee, and our County's conformity with the other counties. Further information will be
transmitted to the Council prior to first reading.
A second draft of Bill No. 173 was submitted due to formatting errors in the original document.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 173, Draft 2 and
recommends it pass first reading.
