Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 620, reports as follows:
Communication No. 620, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated December 8,
1997, nominates Mr. Patrick S. Masutomi, of Kona, to the Hawaii County Board of Ethics.
A life-time resident of Hawaii, Mr. Masutomi will replace Aileen Lum whose term will expire
on December 31, 1997. Prior to his retirement in 1997 Mr. Masutomi served as the Regional
Vice President of American Savings Bank. He is also the treasurer of the Konawaena Booster
Club. Of no political affiliation, Mr. Masutomi will serve a term to end December 31, 2002.
Pursuant to Article XIV, Section 14-5 of the Hawaii County Charter, there shall be a board of
ethics appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the council.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Patrick S.
Masutomi to the Hawaii County Boazd of Ethics.
