Re: Support Final Reading of Resolution No. 29-09 - Vote by Mail

Dear Members of the Hawai'i County Council:
I am off-island during this important meeting on January 23, 2009, but would like to lend my support of
the Vote-by-Mail resolution before you.
As a former resident of the state of Oregon as well as a city elections official in the Portland region I
witnessed and participated in this type of voting practice and feel that it would be of benefit to our
county now. It is an accurate, convenient and cost-effective solution to low turn outs and expensive
management of precinct logistics. I further believe that it would be a relatively easy transition for the
Elections Division to go through and hope that you will earnestly support this measure before you.
The Board of Directors of the League of Women Voters of Hawai'i County (LWVHC) also supports this
resolution.
