Re: Comm. No. 46
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 46, reports as follows:
Communication No. 46, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated December 16, 2008,
requests the confirmation of the appointment of Ms. Nancy Crawford as Director of Finance for
the County of Hawaii.
Ms. Crawford has served the County of Hawaii as Deputy Director of Finance from July 2001
to December 1, 2008. Prior to that she served as business manager for the County of Hawaii
Department of Public Works from July 1997 to July 2001. She will serve a term that is
co-terminus with Mayor Kenoi, which will end on December 3, 2012
Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-3.2, Hawaii County Charter, "The director of finance shall be
appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the council and may be removed by the mayor. The
finance director shall have had a minimum of five years of training and experience in budgeting
or related fields, at least three years of which shall have been in a responsible supervisory
capacity."
There was no discussion on this appointment.
Committee Chairman Yagong advised Ms. Crawford that she did not need to return to the next
full Council meeting for final reading of her appointment.
Four Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Ms. Nancy Crawford as County of
Hawaii Director of Finance.
