Your Committee on Finance, to which vas referred Resolution No. 190, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 190, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication No. 591, dated November 1 S,
1997, creates a Pazk Cazetaker I position and an Equipment Operator II Temporary position for the deparUnent of Parks
and Recreation.
The Kona district has gained additional maintenance responsibilities since the opening ofthe West Hawaii Veterans
Cemetery and increased duties at the Old Airport and Higashihaza Playground. By creating a Park Caretaker I, BC02
position to maintain the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery, other employees would be able to maintain their facilities. The
new position would also assist with other pazks and newly developed azeas.
The addition of a temporary- Equipment Operator II, BC09 position is also essential to access burial plots, and for in-
house construction projects in West Hawaii.
Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor has the power to create positions for
which appropriations have been made by the council.
Resolution No. 190 also transfers funds to cover the cost of the additional positions as follows:
