RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF ,HAWAII TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-1, FOR COPS UNIVERSAL HIRING
SUPPLEMENTAL GRANT.
WHEREAS, the United States of America through the U.S. Department of Justice
Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, is desirous of providing funding for
expenses to implement more effective crime-fighting strategies and to help meet this
challenge, more police officers are needed on the strees to provide the means to link
citizens and law enforcement officers in a partnership; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to proceed
with its obligations for the Community Policing Program, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 46-1 of the Hawaii Revised statutes, the
Federal government may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii
providing the expenditures or receipt of funds or for other assistance;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
the Honorable Stephen K. Yamashiro is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the
name of the County Project Number 95CCWX0415, which will effectuate these purposes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward
copies of this Resolution to said Mayor Yamashiro, the Chief of POlice, and any other
interested governmental agencies.
