RESOLUTION
NAMING A STREET IN THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, STATE OF HA WAil.
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii is authorized to adopt street names for
unnamed roadways in the County of Hawaii pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22,
Hawaii County Code; and
WHEREAS, the Territory of Hawaii created a subdivision known as Manowaiopae
Homesteads in the early 1900's at Hokumahoe, North Hilo, Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the roadway connecting Manowaiopae Homesteads to the Hawaii Belt Road
(Main Government Road) has been referred to as "Homestead Road" on the Tax Maps; and
and
WHEREAS, this "Homestead Road" is situated within a land division called Hokumahoe;
WHEREAS, more than sixty percent of the landowners being served by this roadway
have agreed to the name "Hokumahoe Road;"
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii,
names "Hokumahoe Road" in accordance with the attached map identified as Exhibit A.
