RESOLU,TION
NAMING A STREET IN THE COUNTY OF HA WAIl, STATE OF HA WAIl.
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii is authorized to adopt street names for
unnamed roadways in the County of Hawaii pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22,
Hawaii County Code; and
WHEREAS, the Territory of Hawaii created a subdivision known as Hakalau
Homesteads at Hakalau, South Hilo, Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, one of the roadways in Hakalau Homesteads has been unnamed; and
WHEREAS, more than sixty percent of the landowners being served by this roadway
have agreed to the name "Pueo'ihi Road;" meaning "honored or respected owl;"
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii,
names "Pueo'ihi Road" in accordance with the attached map identified as Exhibit A.
