RESOLUTION ACCEPTING APPROXIMATELY 1.51 ACRES (65,776 SQUARE FEET)
OF LAND AND A TURN-KEY FIRE STATION PAID FOR BY THE COUNTY OF
HA WAIl AT KEAUHOU 1 AND 2, NORTfI KONA, HAWAII, FROM KAMEHAMEHA
INVESTMENT CORPORATION.
WHEREAS, KAMEHAMEHA INVESTMENT CORPORATION is the owner of
approximately 1.51 acres (65,776 square feet) ofland upon which the County of Hawaii has paid
for the construction of a completed turn-key fire station building and related facilities at Keauhou
1 and 2, North Kona, Hawaii, at TMK (3) 7-8-07:53 ("Subject Property"); and
WHEREAS, KAMEHAMEHA INVESTMENT CORPORATION and the County of
Hawaii have entered into an Agreement dated June 18, 1996, to sell the Subject Property to the
County of Hawaii for use as the Keauhou Fire Station; and
WHEREAS, on January 4, 1996 KAMEHAMEHA INVESTMENT CORPORATION
was granted Special Permit No. 918 for the construction and use of the Subject Property for a fire
station as an "unusual and reasonable" use of land within the State Agricultural District pursuant
to Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 205-6; and
WHEREAS, the operation of the Keauhou Fire Station at the Subject Property by the
County of Hawaii will yield considerable savings on fire insurance premiums for the residents
of the Keauhou area; and
WHEREAS, the County Council has provided funding for purchase of the fire station on
the Subject Property by ordinance; and

WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the
County Council, on behalf of the County, may accept interests in improved real property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 ofthe Hawaii County Charter, the
County of Hawaii accepts the approximately 1.51 acres (65,776 square feet) of land and the
completed turn-key Keauhou Fire Station building and related facilities which have been paid for
by the County, located in Keauhou 1 and 2, North Kona, Hawaii from KAMEHAMEHA
INVESTMENT CORPORATION for the purpose of operating the Keauhou Fire Station as
evidenced by the Quitclaim Deed executed April 21, 1997.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies
of this resolution to the Hawaii County Fire Department and KAMEHAMEHA INVESTMENT
CORPORATION.
