Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 176, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 176, transmitted jointly with Bill No. ]60 by Finance Director Harry Takahashi,
via Communication No. 553, dated October 16, 1997, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter
into an agreement with the State of Hawaii, Department of Business, Economic Development
and Tourism for an energy coordinator program.
The Energy Coordinator Program has resulted in the implementation of cost effective energy
efficiency measures within County operations and the community. The continuation of this
program will further increase the efficiency of energy use and advance the use of renewable
energy resources on the Island of Hawaii.
Pursuant to Section 46-8 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Governor of the State of Hawaii
may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii for the purpose of
providing co-sponsorship and maintenance of programs.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 17b and
recommends its adoption.
