RESOLUTION NO. 1 76 97
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER
INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII, DEPARTMENT
OF BUSINESS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM,
PURSUANT TO HRS SECTION 46-8, FOR AN ENERGY COORDINATOR
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii, through the Department of
Business, Economic Development and Tourism, Energy Program Grant,
is desirous of providing funding to the County of Hawaii for an Energy
Coordinator Program; and
WHEREAS, the General Plan of the County of Hawaii encourages
the use of renewable energy ,resources and promotion of energy
conservation as components of a safe, reliable energy supply for the Big
Island of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Energy Coordinator Program has resulted in
implementation of cost effective energy efficiency measures within
County operations and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, continuation of the Energy Coordinator Program will
further increase the efficiency of energy use in County facilities as well as
advance the use of renewable energy resources on the Big Island of
Hawaii; and '
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 46-8 of the Hawaii Revised
Statutes, the Governor of the State of Hawaii may enter into agreements
with the Council of the County of Hawaii for the purpose of providing co-
sponsorship and maintenance of programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Honorable Stephen K. Yamashiro is hereby
authorized to execute on behalf of the County of Hawaii an agreement
with the State of Hawaii, Department of Business, Economic
Development and Tourism for the Energy Coordinator Program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby
directed to forward copies of this Resolution to said Mayor Yamashiro,
the Director of the Department of Research and Development, and any
other interested governmental agencies.
