RESOLUTION
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, PUBLIC HOUSING DRUG ELIMINATION
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the united States of America through the State Department of Human
Services Hawaii Housing Authority, is desirous of providing funding to establish a
police-community partnership with the residents of the Lanakila Housing and adopt a
proactive approach to problem sOlving. To assist in the development, implementation
education and maintenance of crime prevention programs/strategies and work with youth
to develop youth-oriented programs; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department. is ready and willing to proceed
with its obligations under the Public Housing Drug Elimination Program;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised statutes, the
Federal government may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii
providing the expenditures or receipt of funds or for other assistance;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
the Honorable Stephen K. Yamashiro is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the
name of the County Project Number RSB 98-03, which will effectuate these purposes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward
copies of this Resolution to said Mayor Yamashiro, the Chief of Police, and any other
interested governmental agencies.
