Prosecu mg Attorney T FM
Re: Contingency Funds
In an effort to expedite the processing of contingency funds, the Office of the Prosecuting
Attorney has established the following guidelines.
Effective immediately, our office will give priority to those contingency funds which fall
within the following categories:
• Traditional prosecution and community oriented prosecution programs. (This does not
include programs that are within the jurisdiction of other departments)
• Programs that specifically deal with prevention of juvenile delinquency, sexual assault,
domestic and family violence. (This does not include education programs or services that
are the responsibility of the state government)
Planning, evaluation and technology improvements in areas related to traditional
prosecution and community oriented prosecution.
We are asking that all requests processed through the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney
be for a minimum of $2,500.00. In addition, all expenditures must fall within the County of
Hawai' i spending guidelines as established by the Department of Finance. The work required of
staff to carefully scrutinize as well as monitor each of the programs activities and expenditure of
funds necessitates the setting of a base figure.
All requests for consideration should be submitted to our office no less than two weeks
prior to the Council deadline for submission. This will provide us adequate time for review and
evaluation and for all necessary documentation to be obtained
