Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 146, reports as follows:
Bill No. 146, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication No. 514, dated September 22,
1997, amends Ordinance 97-82, the Capital Budget, as amended, by adding the following projects:
PUBLIC WORKS
Hilo Road Improvements $120,000
110-399-5392.75-115
Kona Road Improvements $120,000
110-399-5397.81-115
Funds for these projects shall be provided from:
Federal Grants Receivable $240,000
The Hilo Road Improvement Projects includes construction of concrete retaining walls and installation of metal
guardrails on the following South Hilo Roads:
• Kinoole Street (Route 1930) -from Ohea Street to Kawili Street.
• Haihai Street (Route 2740) -from Keone Street to Awela Street.
• Komohana Street (Route 2740) -from Mauna Iho Place to Uilani Street and from Edena Street to West
Puainako Street.
The Kona Road Improvement Projects includes widening and resurfacing of portion of Mamalahoa Highway from
Palani Road to Halekii Street.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 146 and recommends it pass first
reading.
