Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 165, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 165, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 513, dated September 19, 1997, increases the time element for the Building and Grounds
Helper 2/ST temporazy to full-time temporary.
Currently the Building and Grounds Helper position is used on a temporazy basis whenever an
employee needs to perform higher-level duties. This position performs semi-skilled and manual
tasks in the repair and upkeep of buildings, structures, equipment and grounds. In certain
instances these duties must be performed in vazious districts and require work force assistance.
By increasing the time element from 2/ST temporary to full-time temporazy, this position can be
used to assist the Building Maintenance Repairer, whenever the need azises, island-wide.
There are sufficient funds in the Department of Parks and Recreation, Parks Maintenance
Division, Miscellaneous Salaries and Wages Account, to cover the cost of the additional time
element.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 165 and
recommends its adoption.
