Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 151, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 151, transmitted by Executive on Aging William Takaba, via Communication
No. 464, dated August 20, 1997, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter into agreement
No. D-6089-7-00-81-55-H, LBR 111-003 with the Department of Labor of Industrial Relations,
State of Hawaii to implement a Senior Community Service Employment Program.
The Executive Office on Aging, pursuant to Chapter 349, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is mandated
the responsibility of developing and implementing various programs for elderly persons
throughout the State.
Funding is available for this agreement No. D-6089-7-00-81-55-H pursuant to the Omnibus
Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1996, P.L. 104-298 and Act 328 of the Session Laws of
Hawaii Regular Session of 1997, in the amount of $277,165.
Pursuant to Section 46-8 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, as amended, the Governor of the State
of Hawaii may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii providing for the
co-sponsorship and joint development and maintenance of programs and projects which have
been authorized by the legislature.
The Council Chair is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the name of the Council of the
County of Hawaii Agreement No. D-6089-7-00-81-55-H, LBR l l 1-003.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 151 and
recommends its adoption.
