NAMING OF STREETS IN THE COUNTY OF HA WAIl, STATE OF HAWAII
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii is authorized to adopt street names for
unnamed roadways in the County of Hawaii pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22,
Hawaii County Code; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission at its regular meeting of October 24, 1997,
approved the names for certain unnamed roadways in Villages of La'i'opua, Phase 1, Kealakehe,
North Kona, Hawaii; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii,
names the roadways of the Subdivision known as Villages of La'i'opua, Phase 1, Kealakehe,
North Kona, Hawaii in accordance with the attached map identified as Exhibit A as follows:.
"Ane Keohokalole Highway" in honor of Ane Keohokalole, mother of Queen
Liliuokalani and King Kalakaua and the
grandmother of Princess Kaiulani, the original
grantee of the ahupua'a of Keahuolu, where the
roadway will begin.
meaning "hill of searching or seeking" as well as
"Puohulihuli Street"
being the name of a peak located between the
Kealakehe and Keahulolu ahupua'a.

Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this
