<br />-------~----------- ----- --~--------- ~ ------- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />.,----...e <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> <br />'STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />190 97 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION CREATING A PARK CARETAKER I POSITION AND AN <br />EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II TEMPORARY POSITION FOR THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, dedication ceremonies for the West Hawaii Veterans <br />Cemetery was held on November IS, 1997; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Kona district has gained additional maintenance <br />responsibilities, not only due to the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery, but also the Old <br />Airport and the Higashihara Playground; and <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, because the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery is presently <br />being maintained by the present West Hawaii parks maintenance crew, the <br />normal duties at the other parks are being affected; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, creating a Park Caretaker I , BC02, position to maintain the <br />West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery would ease the burden of the other employees; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the new Park Caretaker I position would also assist with the <br />other parks and newly developed areas; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an Equipment Operator II Temporary, BC-09 position is also <br />necessary, primarily to open and close burial plots; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this position can also be used for in-house construction <br />projects in West Hawaii; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states <br />that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations <br />have been made by the counciL."; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there are funds in the Veterans Cemetery Miscellaneous <br />Contractual Services account. <br />
