Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 144, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 144, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 144, dated August 12, 1997, changes Position No. 3648, Clerk Typist Temporary in the
Department of Research and Development to permanent.
With an increase in contracts due to changes to the procurement law and the diversity of
programs within the department the addition of permanent clerical support is essential to
facilitate major projects.
By adusting the temporary position to permanent, the productivity of the department would
increase since the retraining of new personnel would be eliminated.
There are sufficient funds in the Department of Research and Development's Regular Salaries
and Wages account to cover the cost of the permanent position.
A revised draft of Resolution No. 144 was submitted due to a minor grammatical change in the
last paragraph of page one.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 144,
Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
