RESQLUTION WHEREAS, the Elderly Activities Division (EAO), a division of the County Parks and Recreation Department, is sponsoring a Senior Health Fair on June 1, 1998 at the University of Hawaii-Hilo Campus Center; and . . WHEREAS, the Senior Health Fair will increase older citizens' awareness of the various services and benefits provided by the County's Elderly programs and will promote wellness, preventive education, and nutritious diet among our senior citizens; and , WHEREAS, Dr. Terry Shintani has accepted an invitation to attend the Senior Health Fair and will conduct a session on his well-known Waianae Diet; and WHEREAS, bus transportation is needed for senior citizens to attend the Senior Health Fair; and WHEREAS, the County Council recognizes the significant contributions senior citizens have made, and continue to make, to our society. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HA WAIl that it supports the Senior Health Fair to be held on June 1, 1998 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and will assist in co-sponsoring the event for seniors throughout the County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $2,000 be and is hereby transferred /appropriated out and from Clerk Council SVC OCE Miscellaneous Contract Services Account No. 010-101-5101.02-115 and credited to Parks and Recreation Department, Elderly Activities Division, OCE Miscellaneous Contract Services Account No. 010-500-5519.72-115 for the purpose of providing bus transportation for senior citizens to attend the Senior Health Fair. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Honorable Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro; Finance Director Harry Takahashi; Parks and Recreation Director George Yoshida; and EAD Operations Director Harold Bugado. Dated at Hilo, Hawaii this ~ day of April , 1998.
