It is my pleasure to nominate Jan K. Yokoyama of Council District 2 to the Hawaii
County Liquor Control Adjudication Board. Ms. Yokoyama is a lifelong resident of
Hawaii. She worked for the State of Hawaii as a registered nurse from 1976 until
her recent retirement in December 2008.
Ms. Yokoyama recently served as a member of the Hawaii County Liquor
Commission and her term expired on December 31, 2008. She presently serves
as chair of the Hawaii County Citizens Corps Advisory Council, block coordinator
of the Kaumana Cave Neighborhood Watch, recorder of the Hawaii County
Impaired Driving Task Force and she is a board member of the Big Island Positive
Coaching Alliance. Ms. Yokoyama states that she is a Democrat. If confirmed,
she will serve a term to end on December 31, 2013, replacing Mr. Jack Ferguson,
whose term expired on December 31, 2008.
