Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 127, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 127, transmitted by Police Chief Wayne G. Carvalho, via Communication
No. 389, dated July 1, 1997, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from First Hawaiian Bank.
First Hawaiian Bank has graciously donated a 32x32x26" Johnson Pacific safe, No. 137619,
valued at $300. The safe will provide added security for the retention of valuable items at the
Kealakehe Police Station.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the council, on behalf of the
county, may accept gifts of donations or personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 127 and
recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be sent
to Mr. Bob Shiroma, Manager, First Hawaiian Bank, Bank Properties Department at 1314 S. King
Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96814.
