Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred
Communication No. 108, regarding Bi1124, reports as follows:
Bill 24, transmitted by Director of Public Works, Warren H.W. Lee, via Communication No. 108, dated
January 9, 2009 amends Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 2, Section 24-274.1, Schedule 22.1
(Traffic signal systems), paragraph (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as
amended), by adding the following, to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
"(~ Kino`ole StreetrKamana Street."
There was no testimony from the public on this proposed bill.
Committee Chair Brenda J. Ford relinquished her seat to Council member Dominic Yagong. Vice Chair
Kelly Greenwell was absent and excused for this meeting.
Traffic Division Chief Ron Thiel appeared before your Committee. Mr. Thiel commented that the new
traffic signal was installed and is a necessary amendment to update the Hawaii County Code.

Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Bi1124, and recommends it pass first reading.
