NOTICE OF MEETING
Hawaii County Council
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in compliance with Chapter 19, Article 11, Section 19-90(b) of the
Hawaii County Code, as amended, the County Council of the County of Hawaii has scheduled the Real
Property Tax Rate Resolution on its agenda on the following date, time and place for the purpose of
fixing the real property tax rates for the fiscal year July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009.
DATE: June 2, 2008
TIME: 8:30 a.m.
PLACE: County Council Room
Ben Franklin Bldg.
333 Kilauea Avenue, Second Floor
Hilo, Hawaii
The real property tax rates for the fiscal year July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009, shall be fixed as follows
(specifically, Affordable Rental Housing):
Classes of Property Building Land
(Per $1,000 Net Valuation) (Per $1,000 Net Valuation)
Residential $7.10 $8.10
Affordable Rental Housing $5.55 $5.55
Apartment $8.10 $8.10
Hotel/Resort $9.00 $9.00
Commercial $9.00 $9.00
Industrial $9.00 $9.00
Agricultural and Native Forest $6.35 $8.35
Conservation $8.55 $8.55
Homeowner $5.55 $5.55
These rates would be fixed by the County Council upon its adoption of Resolution No. 658-08. If the
Council does not act upon Resolution No. 658-08 on or before June 20, 2008, the tax rates as previously
set shall be applicable to fiscal year 2008-2009.

All persons desiring to express their views on the above matter may do so orally at the meeting and must
register with the County Clerk's staff. Those submitting written testimony at the meeting should bring
seventeen copies for distribution. Testimony may also be submitted: (1) by mail to the County Clerk's
Office, 25 Aupuni Street, Room No. 209, Hilo, Hawaii, 96720, (2) by facsimile to (808) 961-8912, or
(3) by e-mail to counciltestimony@co.hawaii.hi.us. For testimony received via e-mail or fax, copies
will be distributed at the hearing when transmitted in a timely manner. All oral and written testimony
will be made a part of the public record. The meeting place is accessible for persons with disabilities.
Videoconferencing is available at the following locations: (1) Kona Council Office at the Kailua Trade
Center, 75-5706 Hanama Place, Suite 109; and (2) Waimea Council Office at the Holomua Center,
64-1067 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite 5, Waimea.
