Your Committee on Finance, to which was refened Resolution No. 118, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 118, transmitted by Police Chief Wayne G. Carvalho, via Communication
No. 372, dated June ] 0, 1997, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the World Triathlon
Corporation d.b.a. Ironman Triathlon.
World Triathlon Corporation has graciously donated two Huffy Ironman mountain bicycles to
the Hawaii County Police Department's Community Policing Bicycle Patrol Program. The
bicycles are valued at a combined total of $1300.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the council, on behalf of
the county, may accept gifts of donations or personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 118'and
recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be sent
to Sharron L. Ackles, Race Director, World Triathlon Corporation at 75-127 Lunapule Road,
Suite 11, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740-2119.
