Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 95, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 95, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 314, dated May 6, 1997, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter into an agreement with the
United States of America for a Statewide Narcotics Task Force Grant.
The United States of America through the State Department of the Attorney General Crime
Prevention and Justice Assistance Division, is desirous of providing funding for expenses for the
interdiction of drugs. The Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to proceed
with its obligation for the prohibition of drugs.
Pursuant to Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Federal government may enter into
agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii providing the expenditures or receipt of
funds or for other assistance. The Mayor is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the name
of the County Project Number 96-DB-12, which will effectuate these purposes.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 95 and
recommends its adoption.
