Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 91, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 91, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 311, dated April 29, 1997, increases the time element and reallocation of the Building
Custodian I 1/2't position to Park Caretaker Ifull-time, to cover the weekend shift in the North
Kohala District.
Currently, the North Kohala District does not have a weekend park caretaker to clean various
parks. With the addition of five (5) acres to the Hisaoka Gym area and increased visitation to the
King Kamehameha Statue, maintenance is done on the weekend by full-time employees who are
willing to work overtime. By reallocating the Building Custodian I 1/2T position to Park
Caretaker I, and increasing the time element from half-time to full-time, maintenance on
weekends and holidays can he provided.
There are sufficient funds in the Department of Park and Recreation, Parks Maintenance
Division's Regular Salaries and Wages account, to cover the cost of the additional time element
and reallocation.
Your Committee ou Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 91 and
recommends its adoption.
