Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 236, reports as follows:
Bill No. 236, transmitted by former Council Chair Keiko Bonk-Abramson, via Communication
No. 743.41, dated March 7, 1996, amends Chapter 19 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995
Edition), relating to real property tax assessments of agricultural ]ands.
Communication No. 743.41 recommends that, Bill No. 160, Draft 3, be replaced in its entirety
with Bill No. 236, due to small typographical errors found in the title and three other wording
changes which do not constitute substantive changes.
Bill No. 236, Draft 2, transmitted by former Council Chair Keiko Bonk-Abramson, via
Communication No. 743.57, dated April 17, 1996, submits a substantively identical draft, with
the exception that the native forest category language has been deleted.
Bill Nos. 236 and 236, Drafr 2, were originally heard on April 30, 1996, and referred to
Administration for comments. Two subsequent special Finance Committee meetings were held
on June 28, 1996, and September 9, ] 996. 'the measure was deferred pending the incorporation
of changes and recommendations made by the committee.
Committee Chair Aaron Chung requested the committee close file on the aforementioned bills
and communications, as they have either been resolved or will be reconsidered at another time.
Your Committee on Finance recommends Bill No. 236 and Bill No. 236, Draft 2; be filed.
