Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, which
authorizes the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal
property, and with (2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawaii County Code,
which states that any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures
of the department of finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we
request the Council's approval of the following donation:
A radio pager (valued at $576.04) to the Hawaii Fire Department, to be utilized by the
Fern Acres Volunteer Firefighters for emergency communications, by the Fern Acres
Community Association, Mr. Frank Commendador, President, P.O. Box 582,
Kurtistown, Hawaii 96760-0582.
We ask that a letter of appreciation and acknowledgment of their donation be sent to the
donor.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the recipient Department.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Fern Acres Volunteer Fire Department, a unit operating under the auspices of the Hawai'i Fire
Department received an in-kind donation of a radio pager from the Fern Acres Community Associaiton. The
pager will be utilized by the Fern Acres Volunteer Firefighters for emergency communications.
