Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 271, reports as follows:
Communication No. 271, transmitted by Al Smith, Secretary-Treasurer for the Hawaii State
Association of Counties (HSAC), dated Apri122, 1997, submits nominations for the National
Association of Counties (NACo) and Western Interstate Region (WIR) Board of Directors and
NACo steering committees.
Councilmember Al Smith recommended the Hawaii County Council endorse the reappointment
of the following members:
Ron Kouchi NACo Board of Directors
Dennis Nakamura NACo Board of Directors, Minority At-Large Appointee
Rene Mansho NACo Board of Directors
Ron Kouchi NACo Steering Committee on Environment, Energy & Land Use
Rene Mansho NACo Steering Committee on Transportation and Telecommunications
Dennis Nakamura NACo Steering Committee on Taxation and Finance
Al Smith NACo Steering Committee on Public Lands
Mr. Smith also recommended that Councilmember J. Curtis Tyler be nominated to serve on the
NACo Steering Committee on the Environment, Energy & Land Llse.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 271 ,
and recommends the Council endorse the reappointment of the aforementioned NACo Board and
Steering Committee members and the nomination of Councilmember J. Curtis Tyler to the
NACO Steering Committee on the Environment, Energy & Land Use.
