TESTIMONY IN SUPPORT OF BUDGET REWE-T FORAVV I
ENERGY EFFICIENCY AUDITING WORKSHOP

This is a testimony in support of a budget request for the Energy
Efficiency Auditing Workshops that are being planned for 6 sites
around the island. These workshops are being coordinated by
Friends of NELHA, HELCO, and Hawaii Community College in
response to the urgent need to enlist everyone to reduce energy
consumption on this island. We believe that this can be done by
educating the people in our island-wide communities to reduce
their electric bills by doing energy audits and finding out about
new devices that can cut energy usage and financing and incentives
offered through rebates and tax credits.
These workshops will be conducted by 4 experts and engineers in
energy efficiency. Through your support, we will be able to offer
these workshops free to the communities of Hilo, Kona,
Kealakekua, Pahala, Pahoa, and Waimea.
We believe that this investment to educate the people of our island
in energy efficiency will not only make an immediate impact but
will also continue to impact the future of our island. We urgently
need to change the way we all behave in our homes and
businesses, and we believe education is the beginning of this
change.
