Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 61, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 61, transmitted by District V Councilmember Al Smith, via Communication
No. 232, dated April 2, 1997, authorizes the acceptance of a donation of a swing set from the
Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council's Head Start Program.
HCEOC's Head Start Program has graciously donated a 4-seat split swing set to the County of
Hawaii Parks and Recreation Department for use at the Hawaiian Beaches Park playground. The
swing set is valued at $667.00.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the council, on behalf of
the county, may accept gifrs of donations or personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 61 and
recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be sent
to Sue Mathews, Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council, Head Start Program at 47
Rainbow Drive, Hilo, Hawaii 96720.
