Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 57, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 57, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, via Communication No. 207,
dated March 13, 1997, approves the cost items agreed upon by the Employers and Hawaii Fire
Fighters Association for the contract period, July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1999.
The estimated cost to the County of Hawaii for negotiated cost items including adjustments to
wages, overtime, and meal allowances will be $902,037. Additional adjustments such as
employer's contribution to the Employee Retirement System, vacation, holiday and sick leave
repazations will increase the total cost to $1,249,938. The revised budget for Fiscal Year 1997-98
will include a provision for these adjustments.
Pursuant to Section 89-10(b) of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, relating to collective bazgaining, all
cost items shall be subject to appropriations by the appropriate legislative bodies. The employer
shall submit within ten days of the date on which the agreement is ratified by the employees
concerned all cost items contained therein to the appropriate legislative bodies.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 57 and
recommends its adoption.
