Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 157, reports as follows:
Communication No. 157, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro dated February 14, 1997,
nominates Mr. Joseph A. Gomes, a lifetime resident of Hawaii, for reappointment to the Hawaii
County Fire Board of Appeals.
Mr. Gomes has been the owner and manager of the Joe Gomes Ranch since 1971. He is active
with the Boy Scouts of America and is a member of the Waikoloa Volunteer Fire Department.
Of no political affiliation, he will serve a term to end December 31, 2001.
Pursuant to Section 26-6, Hawaii County Code, members of the Fire Board of Appeals be
appointee by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council as prescribed in Section 13-4 of the
Hawaii County Charter.
Mr. Gomes was present and stated that he will continue to serve diligently in his present
capacity.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the approval of the reappointment of Mr. Joseph A.
Gomes to the Hawaii County Fire Board of Appeals.
