Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred
Communication 164, reports as follows:
Communication 164 from Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated February 18, 2009, requests the Council's
approval of the appointment of Jan K. Yokoyama of Council District 2 to the Hawaii County
Liquor Control Adjudication Board.
Council Member Brenda Ford asked about Yokoyama's experience with the Hawaii County
Citizens Corps Advisory Council and expressed displeasure with the past performance of said
Advisory Council.
Council Members Naeole, Ikeda and Onishi expressed pleasure with Yokoyama's record of
public service and fully support her nomination. When asked if Ms. Yokoyama needed to appear
before the full Council, the consensus was that it would not be necessary.
Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation is in accordance with the purpose
and intent of Communication 164 and recommends the appointment of Jan K. Yokoyama to the
Hawaii County Liquor Control Adjudication Board.
