Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 114, reports as follows:
Communication No. 114, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated January 8, 1997,
nominates Mr. Raymond G. Carvalho II, of Puna, to the Hawaii County Liquor Commission.
A 49-year resident of Hawaii, Mr. Carvalho will replace Eleanor J. G. Morita, whose term
expired December 31, 1996. Mr. Carvalho has been the owner of Carvalho's Plumbing Service,
and has been the General Contractor for RGC Contracting since 1980. He is active in the
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3830, Vietnam Memorial Committee, St. Joseph's Alumni
Association, and the Hui Hanalike Community Association. Of no political affiliation, he will
serve a term to end December 31, 2001.
Mr. Carvalho feels that he can adequately fulfill his obligations as a member of the Hawaii
County Liquor Commission.
Pursuant to Article VII, Chapter 3, Section 7-3.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, there shall be a
liquor commission consisting of seven members who shall be appointed by the mayor and
confirmed by the council in the manner prescribed in Section 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter.
Your Committee on Finance recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Raymond G.
Carvalho II to the Hawaii County Liquor Commission.
