Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 101, reports as follows:
Communication No. 101, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated January 14, 1997,
requests for confirmation the reappointment of Nelson Tsuji as Chief of the Fire Department for
the County of Hawaii.
Mr. Tsuji has extensive experience with the Fire Department and has served as Fire Chief for the
past four years.
Pursuant to Article VI, Chapter 4, Section 6-4.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, the fire chief shall
be appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the council and may be removed by the mayor.
Your Committee on Finance recommends confirmation of the reappointment of Mr. Nelson
Tsuji as Chief of the Fire Department for the County of Hawaii.
