RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THREE (3) SHIPPING CONTAINERS FOR
THE HAWAII COUNTY CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY
WHEREAS, Matson Navigation Company is donating three (3) 24 foot shipping containers to the
Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency (HCCDA); and
WHEREAS, these containers, with an estimated total value of $9,500, will be used to store disaster
response supplies of the HCCDA, State of Hawaii Department of Health, and American Red Cross; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of-the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to Mr. Mike Lee, Matson
Navigation Company, Honolulu Office, P.O. Box 899, Honolulu, Hawaii 96808, acknowledging this
donation.
