Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawai'i Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division has authorized a $24,193 Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE)
Training Grant to the Hawai'i County Police Department. The grant's goal is to improve
the department's ability to respond to violent crimes against women, primarily sexual
assault with associated intimate partner violence, physical abuse, and homicide. This will
be accomplished by providing updated specialized training for the SAFE personnel.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State
of Hawai'i Department of the Attorney General for this grant.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
this $24,193 Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Training Grant.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawai'i County Police Department.
