Subject: Do not suspend 2%
Please:
Do NOT betray 57% of Voters who voted in 2006 to
SAVE HAWAII ISLAND'S GREAT PLACES FOREVER
SAVE OUR TREASURED LANDS FROM DEVELOPMENT.
DO NOT SUSPEND Deposits to THE 2% FOR THE LAND FUND
CUT the budget in other places!!
Tourism is our biggest industry. The other islands are more and more spoiled by over
development. In the long run, saving our island from over development will be good for our
economy and will make private land more valuable.
Many people worked incredibly hard to pass the 2% law and the voters spoke clearly. Do
you really think you have the right to undo our will unless you have exhausted ALL possible
alternatives?
I would like to know how much my taxes would have to go up to make up this shortfall after
you have cut everywhere else that you can. If there's any way I can afford it short of losing
our home, I would rather pay higher property or sales tax if it will preserve our island's
natural beauty.
Please don't betray our trust.
