Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 22, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 22, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 82, dated December 27, 1996, seeks the Council's approval to transfer ownership of the Hilo
Foreign-Trade Zone Wazehouse Building, to the State of Hawaii Department of Business
Economic Development and Tourism.
Resolution No. 22 states that the State of Hawaii granted the County Department of Research and
Development $790,200.00 for construction of the building, situated on State land identified as
TMK 2-1-12:009 (Por.), Lot 19B. The resolution will transfer the Foreign-Trade Zone
Wazehouse building to the State of Hawaii Department of Business Economic Development and
Tourism, who will manage, operate and maintain the building.
Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 19, Section 2-111, of the Hawaii County Code, the County
Council, by resolution and with the approval of the majority of its members, may dispose of real
property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 22 and
recommends its adoption.
