Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Members,
It is my pleasure to submit for your confirmation the appointment of Burt Tsuchiya
as the new director of the county Department of Data Systems, pursuant to the
charter of the County of Hawaii. This appointment was effective January 26, 2009.
Mr. Tsuchiya has been a county systems analyst in the department since 2007,
responsible for planning, designing and developing information systems.
Mr. Tsuchiya also worked as a programmer for KTA Super Stores from 1993 to
2007, and was a KTA computer operator from 1987 to 1990.
Mr. Tsuchiya, a Hilo resident, holds a bachelor of science degree in computer
science from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. He also attended the University
of Hawai'i at Hilo, and is a graduate of Hilo High School. He currently serves on
the Board of Trustees for Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Mr. Tsuchiya will serve a term co-terminus with my tenure, which will end
December 3, 2012.

Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Members,
I would like to correct an error made in correspondence dated March 13, 2009,
appointing Burt Tsuchiya as the new director of the county of Department of Data
Systems.
Mr. Tsuchiya's date of appointment should be changed to February 16, 2009.
From January 26 to February 15, 2009 he served as acting director.
