Section 5340, Growing States and High Density States Formula Program (Non-urbanized) and passing the County's share of $977,812 through to the Hawai'i County Mass Transit Agency. The funds will be used to purchase two (2) 49 passenger coach buses and bus shelter materials. Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawai'i Department of Transportation for the ARRA funds. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the $977,812 into the Bus & Bus Shelter Materials - ARRA account. Since these funds need to be committed within 180 days, as set forth by Federal regulations, the Mass Transit Agency is requesting to waive the Finance Committee and to have this resolution and bill heard at the next Council meeting scheduled for April 8, 2009.
