Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 8, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 8, transmitted by Deputy Corporation Counsel Gerald Takase, via
Communication No. 7, dated November 22, 1996, authorizes the acquisition of land for
the improvement of the Mamalahoa Highway, from Kamamalu Street to Lindsey Road,
located at Waimea, District of South Kohala, County and State of Hawaii.
Resolution No. 8, authorizes the Corporation Counsel to initiate proceedings in eminent
domain and/or negotiate terms of settlement in order to acquire the necessary lands. The
areas in question are more specifically described as Tax Map Key Nos. 6-5-03:30,
6-7-02:25, 6-7-02:27, 6-7-02:32 & 45, 6-7-02:33, 6-5-05:16, and 6-4-06:4.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 8
and recommends it pass first reading.
