RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OR HIS DULY AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH THE STATE
DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, FOR FUNDING UNDER
THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 (ARRA) FOR
PROGRAMS UNDER TITLE 1 OF THE WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT
WHEREAS, funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act of 2009 (ARRA), are being passed through the State of
Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) to
the Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, these monies must be used for programs under Title
1 of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA); and
WHEREAS, these programs include Youth, Adult and Dislocated
Worker Programs; and
WHEREAS, the County drafted the required WIA-ARRA Annual
Plan which was approved by the Workforce Investment Board's
Executive Committee and submitted to the DLIR by the March 24,
2009 deadline; and
WHEREAS, the DLIR must obligate the WIA-ARRA funds to the
County by April 15, 2009 in compliance with deadlines
established in the ARRA.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII, that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, agreements and
related documents with the State of Hawaii Department of Labor
and Industrial Relations, to enable the County to receive and
provide funding for youth, adult and dislocated worker training
and employment programs in accordance with the WIA-ARRA Annual
Plan.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County
of Hawaii shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the
Office of Housing and Community Development.
