Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 21, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 21, transmitted by Legislative Auditor Constance Kiriu, dated
December 5, 1996, transmits the Financial Audit (Post Audit) Report for the Fiscal Year
Ended June 30, 1996.
Pursuant to Article X, Section 10-13 of the Hawaii County Charter, "The county council
shall provide at least once every year for an independent audit of the accounts and
evidences of other financial transactions of the county and of every county agency and
executive agency. The audit shall be made by a certified public accountant or firm of
certified public accountants, designated by the council..."
It was suggested by a member of Your Committee that there be an effort to follow up on
the status of the departmental responses to the audit observations and recommendations.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the Financial Audit (Post
Audit) Report for the Fiscal Year ended June 30, 1996.
