It is my pleasure to nominate Wallace A. Ishibashi from the South Hilo District to the Hawaii
County Windward Planning Commission. Mr. Ishibashi is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Since
1991, he has been employed by the ILWU Local 142 as a Business Agent. Mr. Ishibashi is on
the Board of Directors of Hawaii Island United Way. He is a former Rural South Hilo President,
and from 1996 to 2001 he served as the President of the Honomu Branch Church of Latter Day
Saints.
Mr. Ishibashi states that he is. not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a
five year term to end on December 31, 2013.
Due to the need to have the respective planning commissions in place by April 1, 2009, as
required by law, we are respectfully requesting this nomination be waived to the full Council for
its consideration.

RE: Communication No 240 Nomination of Wallace A. Ishibahi from the South Hilo
District to the Hawaii County Windward Planning Commission
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Planning Committee to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this
matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval be granted and the
matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Planning Committee
for placement on its future agenda.
