Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 28, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 28, transmitted by Council Chair James Arakaki, via Communication
No. 94, dated December 17, 1996, creates two temporary legislative assistant positions for a term
to end June 30, 1997.
Resolution No. 28 was introduced to conciliate the Council's desire to provide staff continuity in
several major council projecCs, such as the Kona Water Improvement District and the Kalaoa
Roadway Plan, coupled with support during the County budget review and the 1997 Legislative
Session.
Several members of Your Committee felt that the current staffing levels would be able to
accommodate the workload.
Your Committee on Finance is not in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 28
and recommends it be filed.
